Whet Your Appetite for Steinhatchee Scalloping & Fishing

Once you’ve started your day with a satisfying breakfast in your cottages fully equipped kitchen, set out to enjoy the many recreational activities affordable (available from River Haven Marina) to guests at Steinhatchee Landing Resort, ranging from a Florida Springs scuba dive, Steinhatchee scalloping rentals, a kayak trip  on the Steinhatchee River and fly fishing in the grass flats, to an exploration of Gulf Coast state parks  — and everything in between.

See Why So Many are Hooked on our Steinhatchee River Cottages

Whether you’ve come to give fly fishing a try, ease downstream in a canoe or kayak, or capture the glorious scenery that abounds on a pontoon ride on the Steinhatchee River, when you’re a guest at Steinhatchee Landing Resort, it’s yours for the taking. The River Haven Marina’s staff will transport you upriver to Steinhatchee Falls for a refreshing canoe trip where you paddle downriver for a 3-hour scenic excursion. (Trip includes a rental fee for the canoes or kayaks.)

World-Class Fishing, Scalloping & Boating at Your Fingertips

Steinhatchee has always been an angler’s paradise. The pristine shoreline and shallow grass flats providehabitat for an abundance of saltwater fish. In the summer season, you can  try your hand at  some of the finest scalloping in the world.

If you’re a boater, you’ll appreciate the 16 complimentary boat slips available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enjoy a day cruising the Steinhatchee River in your own craft, or rent a boat from one of the local marinas.

Additional resources for boaters include:

STEINHATCHEE MARINAS & CHARTER CAPTAINS

Plenty of Fun for the Whole Family

For additional exploration, take a bicycle (available from River Haven Marina) tour of the Steinhatchee area or refresh with a relaxing dip in the pool. Kids of all ages enjoy access to our shuffleboard area, tennis and basketball courts, fitness center, jogging trail, barnyard and playground. South of the Landing and across the Steinhatchee River are miles of river-bottom wilderness trails that meander through a thick forest of oaks, pines, palms and magnolias.

Local Gulf Coast State Parks Well Worth the Trip

Day trips from the Landing to nearby Gulf Coast State Parks provide opportunities to explore some of Florida’s many natural wonders and see native wildlife in their own environment. The resort is located near more than 100,000 acres of Preservation 2000 lands acquired under the Save Our Rivers program. This includes miles of undeveloped Gulf Coast frontage. The gulf and fresh water streams that flow through the area provide habitat for more than 100 bird species.

Scuba Dive the Florida Springs

While scuba diving is popular across Florida, cave and cavern diving is unique to North Central Florida in North America. Certified divers enjoy exploring the subterranean sights hidden within the caverns and caves of Florida’s springs, from 130 feet to thousands of yards below the surface. Trading freshwater for saltwater, divers can take the plunge in the Gulf of Mexico by hiring local captains for an unforgettable diving or spearfishing excursion. Several dive shops in the area include:
